MCCSS Executive Secretary – Ms.Isabel Richardson

Bold, Confident and committed, Ms.Isabel Richardson has seventeen years of professional experience in social work specially among women and in community development. She has played a vital role in taking the dynamic MCCSS team to the next level in service among the women and poor. Her Key strengths – Net working, women development, organizing programmes, lobbying, working with children, youth and helping individuals in distress, wherever she is, there is action and progress.

P.G.Diploma in Guidance & Counseling

L.Th in Counseling at U.K. Graduated from St.John’s College, Nottingham.

BCS – Bachelor in Christian Studies, Senate of Serampore

Special Achievements

  • Excellent collaborative work with the All Women Police Stations.
  • Was a member of the lobbying team for policy changes in the Family Court with regard to nomination of social workers.
  • An active core team member of the commitment to Girl Child Project of Synod. Played an active role in bringing out awareness on the issue of ‘Maathama’. Gave valuable contributions to the project components both from a gender perspective and in counseling.
  • Represented India in discussions on combating trafficking in the US organized by the Consulate.
  • A Member of ‘Mahila Adalat’ program for settling family disputes, sponsored by National Commission for Women, New Delhi.
  • Earned many awards in Rotary Youth Leadership Camp in 1986.
  • Represented Trichy district in the Youth Study Exchange program of Rotaract held at Srilanka in 1987.
  • Represented Rotary International Dist. 3230 during 1999-2000 as a member of the Group Study Exchange Team in the United Kingdom.
  • Significant contribution towards developing indigenous models of intervention and that are used by Social Work trainees for understanding the theoretical perspective and the practical aspects of counseling.
  • Impacted the public institutions in Tamil Nadu. Instituted a programme on counseling skills for policewomen as a revolutionary move to bring kindness into the grim settings of the police station.
  • Worked on sensitive issues in an Indian society and awakened the public conscience on problems like child abuse and violence against women through talk shows, case discussion and paper presentation.
  • Worked with the clergy, congregational members, teachers, youth, women and public at large to empathize and help victims of distress.
  • Participated in the landmark committee for a leading public sector company supported by the Supreme Court to define the guidelines on sexual harassment in the workplace.
